Keith Dartt for Midnight Scribe:
I highly recommend this book; the characters are well developed and the setting lets you live in the world that Edward Stack has so artistically painted for the senses. Magic is not the main focus of the book, but a dabbling here and there adds to the overall feeling of the story. Well balanced.
The story has a strong mixture of dungeon exploring, court intrigue and heroic battles, as well as self-discovery of the main characters. Ily is a lost soul looking for stability in her life. She encounters the possibility of finding her place in the world, only to have her faith in it tested again and again. Ultimately, it's the faith in herself that helps to establish this goal.
I give "Ily's Dream" 5 stars * * * * *
Brad, www.PlanetDoom.com:
'Ily's Dream' It's got everything.
I very much enjoyed reading 'Ily's Dream' and I heartily recommend this book. Well written and like a grand fantasy roleplaying campaign game it has everything: action, world-building, magic, political intrigue and battles. 'Ily's Dream' was fun and wonderful. It kept getting better the further I read (don't we always want that?) What more could you want?
FIVE STARS *****

Kate Saundby for ReallyGoodEbooks:
Like a troubadour of old, Edward Stack instantly seduces the reader into this engaging ballad of sorcery, pirates, princesses, dragons and mists, and from its opening sentences to a thoroughly satisfying ending, Ily's Dream never misses a beat.
In a tale that would have been at home in the court of any medieval king, when the little thief, Ily, is caught robbing the mansion of an evil sorcerer, she makes a bargain with her captor. All she has to do is carry a crystal orb into a cavern on a certain island. Once there, she is to smash the orb, pour its contents into a spring within its depths, and return to him with a bottle of the water.
Just your simple, everyday quest. Right?
Edward Stack writes with infinite charm and grace, and Ily's Dream will surely become a classic.
FIVE STARS ***** (Highly recommended)
Review by: Tracy Eastgate
In a war as old as time, Good versus Evil yet once again. While Evil seems to be running almost unheeded, Good isn't down and out for the count just yet. The fate of things rests with the most unlikely choice--a thief. But is there enough good left in the young thief's heart to make the right decisions?
Ily is a young woman who has made her own way in a world that has been less than kind to her. Her way of life is that of a thief and although this is not the choice she would have made had she been given one, it has provided for her. But now her profession seems to have worked against her as a dark and powerful Wizard has given her a task--one that could easily cost her life.
A wonderful tale that allows a person to escape from their own daily troubles into a land filled with magic and adventure. Mr. Stack has penned a delightful story that captures the imagination and draws you into it. While at times the story seems a bit rushed, it doesn't decrease the impact of the events. For those of you who enjoy Swords and Sorcery, ILY'S DREAM is one you will want to add to your list.
Four Stars **** (Excellent) Tracy's Book Reviews
Cindy Penn at www.wordweaving.com writes:
"...Ily must choose. To be successful, Ily must become much more than what
she is, placing her faith in a goddess long forgotten, bringing others to
the old ways, thereby changing the heart of a kingdom forever. Filled with
self-doubt, flanked by loyal followers and protected by magic, Ily's
character is a rich contrast of vulnerability and brashness.
Her strength and courage create a memorable, fast paced, well-balanced plot of action, magic, political intrigue and battles.
Moreover, Edward Stack's poetic lyricism lends the marvelous tale a sense of mystery and depth of quality sorely lacking in much fantasy.
I highly recommend ILY'S DREAM."
An edge-of-your-seat fantasy that’ll test your faith along with the characters. Read "Ily’s Dream" and learn what it means to be faithful even with doubts that plague your mind and cause you to question your faith.
REVIEW for Word of Mouth Reviews:
TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF & YOUR READING HABITS: I am a fan of fantasy and include David Eddings, Tolkien, and a myriad of other authors.
WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN A BOOK: I look for a tale that is easily followed and has continuity throughout. (except for Tolkien of course).
WHAT I FOUND COMPELLING ABOUT IT (CHARACTERS, IDEAS, WRITING STYLE, ETC.): I find that Edward Stack writes a very enticing story that immersed me in the world of Ily. His writing is very fluid and is easy to read.
HOW IT MADE ME FEEL: I want to read the rest of his books.
CAUTIONS (HARD TO GET INTO, DIFFICULT WORDS, HARD DIALOGUE, ETC.): Make sure you have plenty of snacks on hand, you will not want to put it down :) Other than that... nope.
WHAT KIND OF READER MIGHT LIKE THIS BOOK: Definitely fantasy readers. If you like David Eddings you will like Edward Stack's writings!
OVERALL RATING: 2.9 (no babies, but the best thing since David Eddings!)
